Aerospace/Defense Standards
To take advantage of the benefits of structured content, most organizations today are adopting one of the XML standards that have been developed to make adoption easier. Use of a standard speeds adoption, ensures a community of people who can work together and share ideas and ensure the technologies are easier to deploy.
Aerospace and Defense Standards
Different standards have evolved in the aerospace and defense sectors which have more precise requirements:
- S1000D: An international specification for the procurement and production of technical publications. Originating in Europe for the aerospace and defense sectors, S1000D is seeing much broader mandate and adoption in defense and civil aviation globally.
- MIL-SPEC: An SGML standard in use by the U.S. Department of Defense for the deliver y of operations and maintenance information.
- ATA iSpec 2200: A global aviation industry standard for the content, structure and electronic exchange of aircraft engineering, maintenance, and flight operations information.
