Nautilus Deploys SDL Trisoft to Manage DITA and Component Content Management (CCM)

Leading Fitness Company Turns to DITA to Manage Brands and Support Global Presence

08 January 2009

SDL Trisoft, a worldwide leader in Component Content Management (CCM), is pleased to announce that SDL Trisoft has been successfully deployed by Nautilus, a leading fitness equipment manufacturer. Headquartered in Vancouver, Wash., Nautilus, Inc. is a global fitness products company providing innovative, quality solutions to help people achieve a healthy lifestyle. With a brand portfolio including Nautilus®, Bowflex®, Schwinn® Fitness, StairMaster®, and Universal®, Nautilus manufactures and markets innovative fitness products.

Nautilus selected SDL Trisoft Component Content Management (CCM) system in 2007 to support the move to a DITA topic-based product documentation process. As a global fitness products company that had grown through a series of strategic acquisitions, Nautilus corporation faced a growing number of key challenges in managing the production and publication of its assembly, owner and service manuals. Inconsistent tools and processes made it difficult to manage content that had to be consistent across the branded equipment. Additionally, Nautilus was beginning to sell its branded products globally and saw the costs of translation increase substantially as it expanded into eight languages.

"SDL Trisoft Component Content Management (CCM) technology has more than met our expectations," said Brian Schmitt, Manager of Technical Documentation, "The strength of the technology and the knowledge of the SDL Trisoft team helped make our deployment successful. SDL Trisoft is now enabling us to reap the business benefits of DITA."

"We are pleased to support Nautilus’ move to DITA and Component Content Management," said Miel de Schepper, Managing Director of Trisoft. "Nautilus is among a growing number of successful SDL Trisoft deployments, who are seeing extensive business value from deploying our solutions."
